Many cat owners are anxious about their cats when they bring them to the vets. The experience of simply trying to get them into a basket can be stressful before you've even left the house, not to mention a car journey with a howling pussy and then a tense wait before you see the vet. Fivelands Veterinary Centre have been awarded a Bronze Award by the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) for being a cat friendly practice in a recent national competition, the only veterinary practice in the West Midlands to receive an award.

What we do for cats

• Separate cat ward at our Moseley surgery (where we hospitalise patients)

• Use of Feliway plug-ins throughout the practice (they have a calming effect on cats).

• Various types of equipment specifically for cats -blood pressure monitoring and mini clippers, endoscope.

• Further education of all vets and nurses targeted at cat diseases.

• Use of the safest, most innovative cat vaccines.

• Sales of cat toys

• Cat friendly carriers available
